Once in a lifetime opportunity to play a significant role in building a unique cross communal school with a multi-cultural intake, dedicated to creating an environment in which children can grow to their fullest potential.

The school opened in September 2013 with one reception class and will move in September 2015 to a new purpose built building which will accommodate its full capacity of 420 children by 2019. In time the school will appoint two assistant heads, one for inclusion and one for teaching, learning and curriculum.

Mosaic Jewish Primary School is looking to appoint an inspirational individual with flair, commitment and passion who can fulfill one of these assistant headteacher roles. You should be an experienced class teacher with proven leadership experience as either a core subject leader or SENCO, aspiring to senior leadership. You will be key in helping to steer the school into the future, promoting our Jewish ethos and building a school of which the community can be proud. You will be responsible for leading a team and ensuring that the individual needs of all children, including EAL and Gifted and Talented, are addressed in the most effective way that all children make progress. Initially, whilst the school is small, the successful candidate will have 0.6 – 0.8 FTE teaching commitment as a KS1 teacher.


You will work in close partnership with the headteacher to facilitate the smooth running of the school including leading the day to day operation of the school as well as deputising in the absence of the Headteacher.

The successful candidate will maintain best practice, providing a clear direction for improvement in the school and ensuring that policies and agreed practice are consistently implemented. You will support the headteacher in the self-evaluation programme and the generation, implementation and review of the School Development Plan and other necessary documentation, taking a lead where required.

You will take a lead role in assessment across the school, including implementing consistent procedures/systems. You will track pupil progress and identify individuals and groups of pupils requiring additional support. You will also take a role in assisting the headteacher in using and analysing data to support school improvement and support staff in the setting of targets for pupils.

You will be responsible for managing inclusion across the school and taking a lead in managing behaviour across the school.

  • Ability to inspire, challenge, motivate and empower  colleagues to carry the school’s vision forward
  • Preparedness and ability to implement our Jewish ethos
  • Willing and able to lead in the absence of the headteacher
