Remembering and Respecting

This week all the children have been remembering and paying their respects to those who have died fighting for Britain since the First World War. We all walked to the War Memorial on Wimbledon Common. The children walked beautifully together, with Year 1 each having a Reception child buddy to walk with and look after.  It was a delight to see the way in which children stood showing such respect during our 1 minute of silence. The children laid wreaths made of poppies which they had made themselves. All the children laid a stone on the memorial, as this is a Jewish custom of respect when visiting a grave. Year 1 had prepared their stones, painting them red as a symbol of Remembrance Day.
