Mosaic appoints new headteacher
Mosaic Jewish Primary School today announced the appointment of Miss Nerrissa Bear as Headteacher. The appointment follows a comprehensive 18-month recruitment process. Miss Bear will take up the post immediately.
David Kelin, Chair of Governors said, “We are delighted to appoint Miss Bear as the new Headteacher of Mosaic. Miss Bear is highly enthusiastic and has proved herself an able and effective leader during this last year as Acting Headteacher. She understands Mosaic’s ethos of inclusiveness and excellence, and we are very much looking forward to working with such a capable and respected educator.”
Miss Bear first started working at Mosaic as Assistant Headteacher in 2014. She has been Acting Headteacher of the school since last year. Miss Bear holds a BA with honours and a national award for Special Education Needs Co-ordination (SENCO).
Under her stewardship, Mosaic has seen the biggest increase in applications for Reception across all schools in the London Borough of Wandsworth, resulting in a full Reception class and a waiting list for September 2018. During the 2017-18 school year, Miss Bear has also overseen the creation and launch of the school’s new Art, Design and Technology room and the new Learning Resources Area.
Miss Bear said, “I have been a part of Mosaic almost since the beginning and am very excited to lead this extraordinary school into the next phase of its development as we increase our student numbers, recruit more passionate teachers and continue to provide the level of excellence necessary to preserve our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ accreditation.”
Mosaic Jewish Primary School is South London’s only Jewish School. Mosaic is a mixed school with 50% of our children coming from across the Jewish community and 50% local children of all faiths, beliefs and none. It is a free school, an academy for children aged 4 – 11 years, which opened in September 2013. It is located in purpose-designed premises in Roehampton. Ofsted judged Mosaic to be Outstanding in all areas and recognised that Mosaic has been successful in establishing a school community in which pupils of a wide range of faiths and cultures embrace and celebrate their diversity. The school is a two-form entry school which admits up to 60 boys and girls to Reception (30 faith and 30 open places) every year and by September 2018 will go up to Year 5 (Year 6 by 2019).
